Our T.U.S.C. meetings go throughout the whole Grade 3/4 class with Mrs. Tervoort. T.U.S.C. stands for Totally Unbelievable Speakers Club. T.U.S.C. meetings give students a chance to speak louder and more confidently, be more fluent in reading, and learn to listen and pay attention better. The jobs we do are: Chairperson, Secretary, Second Secretary, General Reporter, Timer, Speech, Speech Evaluator, Poetry, Invited Guest or Interview, Jokes and Riddles, Game Reviewer, Travel Agent, Top Ten, Mascot Photographer, Sports Reporter, World or Canada News, Artist, Movie/T.V. Reviewer, Interesting Artifact, Book Talk, School News, Demonstration, Local News, Hangman, Song Reviewer and Survey. The Chairperson is the one that runs the meeting. If the Chairperson isn't here then Mrs. Tervoort replaces them. We all get little folders that we put our papers in for T.U.S.C. We all hope that T.U.S.C. will go on for a long time.
On Mustache Day, November 27th, mostly everyone got a mustache. Then, we went for an assembly down at the gym. The teachers had a contest for the best mustache. When we were clapping for Mrs. Schaefer, we listened to music and we clapped really loud. It was very funny! Mrs. Hunnam was dressed up as Santa with a beard. She won! The K's had a pencil with a mustache eraser.

Chess Club started in Oct./Nov. I helped Mr. McLean organize Chess Club. Normally, we have Chess Club every Day 6. A lot of my friends are in Chess Club, like Matthew, Hayden F., Blake, Alex and some more people. The Tournament starts tomorrow!
At our school, we have Chess Club. We have it every Day 6. You can play on the iPads and chess boards. On the iPad we play against the computer. On the chess boards you play against your friends. Mr. McLean teaches Chess Club in the Grade 7/8 classroom. Dexter helps organize it. We find Chess Club really, really fun! The chess club tournament is coming up soon. There are 17 people in the tournament.

On November 14th, we wore blue for Diabetes Day. We got a blue smoothie (for a donation). The blue smoothies had bananas and blueberries, which have antioxidants that can also prevent diabetes. We also did yoga which helps pain calm down.

(A total of $480. was raised by Balmoral School on this day, to go to the Canadian Diabetes Association! ~ Mrs. Tervoort)

On October 31, the whole school wore our costumes to school. We started it off as a normal/regular day. The day before (Oct. 30), the Kindergarteners wore their costumes. Then at 2:00, on Oct. 31, all the classes went down to the gym and sat in lines with their class. We were called up byt separate classes and did two laps around the gym. There were four judges from Grade 7/8 (Student Council) that watched the classes walk around them and chose which costume was the funniest, the scariest and most original. After they chose the kids' names or costume names, the kids got to pick a prize. Grace was Catness from the Hunger Games (the movie series). Faith was a ninja girl. In Grade 2, 2012, the chose ones got to be in the newspaper (Faith, Dylan and Kate).

The costume parade is about wearing your Halloween costume. On Oct. 31, we walked around the gym and the judges picked whose costume was the funniest, original and scariest. Then, some people got a prize. After, the Gr. 5/6/7/8's played games and danced. The Gr. 1/2/3/4's watched a movie. We watched Madagascar. There was a cute fluff ball wiggling his tail.

In October, Balmoral School held our annual Scholastic Book Fair. As usual, our students and parents greatly supported this event by purchasing lots of books! This also helps our school, as we get a portion of the sales to buy new books for our school library!
Some of our parents also buy books from the teachers' wish lists to go into our classroom libraries. Thank you to the Farmer/Wait family, the Taylor family and the Willey family for purchasing books for the Grade 3/4 classroom!
We love to read!
