On the 20th of June we went to Fort Whyte and learned about the people of the prairie and went inside a sod house and found out what they would have used in the winter to go to the bathroom.

(This was our final field trip of the year. The Kindergarten and Gr. 1/2 classes, along with our class, headed to Winnipeg to Fort Whyte. We all had the same program, "The People of the Prairie" , but done at our own levels...about the indigenous people, the Métis, the settlers, and us! We learned about the buffalo and the teepee of the indigenous people, the sod houses and the Red River carts of the settlers, the sash of the Métis...and so much more! It was a busy, but great day! We ended our stay at Fort Whyte by enjoying our lunch and visiting, then heading back to school. It was a great field trip! ~ Mrs. Tervoort)
