Every Friday was "Freezie Friday" with all proceeds going to Nepal earthquake relief.
Student Council held their second Ice Cream Sundae sale, as a final treat for the year.
Our annual Tabloid Day was a huge success, with our multi-age family groups participating in a variety of activities, including running, throwing, scooters, and of course, the Bison Bistro with delicious food! This year's theme continued with our Canada/Aboriginal studies and a challenging trivia component!
Grades 1 to 4 had a great activity afternoon, including giant Kerplunk, bocce ball, ladderball and a "Minute to Win It" stations! It was a fun way to unwind at the end of the year.
Our class spent our last full school day at Mariash Quarries for a field trip. It is always one of my favourites, as the kids have a hands-on day reviewing our Rocks and Minerals science unit. It is a great way to reinforce what we learned in class, found out some more things, and had the chance to hunt for our own fossils that we could take home! The kids loved it, as well as the fantastic parents that came along to help! Of course, the stop for ice cream on the way back to school didn't hurt either! Yum!
The last day with kids was our Celebration of Excellence, where we were able to showcase each class with some of the powerpoints, videos, a few choirs, and a tribute to our Grade 8 Grads who will be going on to the next school in the fall. We also had the chance to say goodbye to a few staff members...our wonderful Kindergarten teacher has retired, and our guidance counselor is moving on to a different school.
Once this celebration is done, it finally hits that school's out for summer (those of you old enough can probably hear that melody in your heads...). It is bittersweet, as I know everyone is ready for a break...but it also means saying goodbye to one group of kids, and preparing for the next one, as well as meeting the challenges and changes for a new school year!
I hope that everyone has a relaxing, rejuvenating break, with time for family and friends. Read a book, explore somewhere new, and take time to enjoy the sunshine!
